Veronica is a Senior Research Officer at Papua New Guinea’s National AIDS Council Secretariat; a role to which she will return upon completion of her studies.

She is committed to empowering more Papua New Guinean women to attain financial security, and influencing policy to better support marginalised communities. Through her participation in the Women’s Leadership Initiative, Veronica hopes to improve her communication skills, grow her network, and be a leader her community can have confidence in.

Angela Kelly-Hanku

Angela has a background in social science and public health and is currently Scientia Associate Professor at the Kirby Institute for Infection and Immunity in Society. She is also the Unit Head, Sexual and Reproductive Health at the Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research, where she leads a large, multidisciplinary unit working across sexual and reproductive health, HIV, violence, gender and sexuality, and tuberculosis

Angela has also worked as a consultant advising on health-related projects for CARE International, UNAIDS and Caritas Australia, co-authored numerous publications and peer-reviewed journals, and developed award-winning communications material on sexual and reproductive health.
