Challenges and opportunities of emergency response

Wednesday, 15 April 2020

The Humanitarian Advisory Group (HAG) have released a think-piece on what extreme emergency response planning might look like when the world is already enduring a global pandemic.

In Case of Emergency: System-wide Response in the Era of COVID-19 considers the challenges and opportunities of humanitarian responses to an L3 emergency when the world’s resources are already invested; and typical deployment mechanisms and funding certainty are no longer feasible.

In a leadership context, HAG looks to the power of local leaders and asks: What successful models and approaches can be drawn on? What remote technical support can be supplied? And, what support is needed to maintain surge mechanisms?
